Meetings & Events

Running Sessions

From time to time we schedule Fun and Run sessions on a Wednesday evening at Harry Raynis' in Naperville from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. All BTS members and prospective members are welcome.

Society Meetings - 2024 Meetings and Events

The club normally meets on the third Saturday of the month.  Club meetings include time to socialize, a brief club meeting and a presentation by a club member, or invited guest.  Members are welcome to bring trains to run on the host's layout.

In 2024 we will be spending time working on the new club layout.


January  20st - Harry Raynis' home at 1:30 pm.

We will be setting up the club layout in preparation for the March Great American Train Show at Lyon's Township High School (North campus).  We are also transitioning our club leadership from Gil Koenigsaecker to Martin Sorenson.  Feel free to bring any trains you plan to run during the show so we can test the track.

 

February  17th (TBC) - Harry Raynis' home at 1330.

We will be cleaning and repairing the club layout in preparation for the March show. Please bring any trains you plan to run during the March show to makes sure there are no issues.
 

March 23rd (TBC) - Lyon's Township High School.

The club will be exhibiting at the NMRA All American Train Show.  the show is open 0900-1700.  Plan to arrive no later than 0830 if you are running trains in the morning.  Ken Carlson will be registering participants at the January and February meetings.

 

April 20th (TBC) - TBD  at 1:30 pm.

We will review how the All American Train Show went. 

 

May 11th (TBC) - Harry Raynis' home at 1:30 pm.

This month we will be hosting Mr. Kato, discussing the new club layout, as well as options for our new club shirts.

 

June 22nd  - Alex Jackiw's home in Mokena, IL  at 2:00 pm.

Club Summer Picnic.

 

July 20th - Harry Raynis' home in Naperville, IL.  1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

August  17th Alex Jackiw's place in Mokena IL.  1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

This month, Martin Sorensen will be giving a presentation on collecting Grouping on a budget.  In addition, if the new modules have arrived, there may be a session to begin assembly.

Annual swap meet.

Remember to bring your money those items you are looking to add to your collection.  This is also an opportunity to bring those items you are looking to find a new home for.

No meeting due to Roselle Library show.

 

December 14th from 4 - 6 pm, at Harry's home in Naperville.

Annual Christmas gathering.

Local & Regional Events of Interest

Below are some of the model train activities of interest in the local area.

​

All American Train show - March 23rd (TBC), 2024

This year's All American Train show is tentatively Saturday, 23 March, at the Lyon's Township High School, North campus.  The doors open at 9 am and the show closes at 5 pm.  We typically setup the layout the Friday night before the show.

Roselle Library Train Show - November 2024

This local event is held the first weekend of November at the Roselle Public Library.  The club brings a variety of smaller layouts including the N-Scale T-Trak layout, Richard Smyth often brings his always popular trolley layout, and Ken Carlson brings his multi-gauge layout .
